What Do You Look For In A Simple And Affordable Everyday Skincare Routine?

It’s fair to assume that most people become easily overwhelmed when trying to create a simple and affordable everyday skincare routine. A simple and affordable everyday skincare routine should be easy to understand and incorporate into your life. Here is a basic skincare routine containing five very simple steps you can tailor to your personal skin goals. Best of all, it’s beginner friendly and will cost you less than $100 for a full routine!

Step 1: Balance And Tone

After you’ve cleansed your face, you’re going to want to use a toner to help balance and gently exfoliate your skin. It acts as a prep for the rest of your skincare products to give you a plump, glowing result. Each toner can contain a different cocktail of acids and key ingredients to tackle whatever concerns you may have. My personal favorite is the Innisfree Balancing Green Tea Toner! It contains green tea, Triple-Amino™ Acids, and PHA to gently exfoliate and control excess oil. It’s also fragrance free, dermatologist tested and extremely affordable at about $20 a bottle!

Step 2: Serums And Acids

Once you’ve balanced your skin using a toner, you’re going to want to start with treating. This is the part of your routine where you will be able to apply all of your desired serums and any acids you like to use. Here is where you would treat any skin concerns you may have. For example, if your skin is feeling dull, try using a Vitamin C serum. I love to use The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 serum! It’s so hydrating and gentle on the skin, great for both AM and PM routines and only about $10.

Step 3: Eye Creams And Serums

Next is when you will apply your eye cream! Eye creams and serums are game changers when it comes to preventing fine lines and wrinkles. They typically contain ginger, Vitamin C, and many other “eye-opening” key ingredients. I’ve been using The Ordinary’s Caffeine Solution Eye Serum. At only $10, this has been my favorite eye solution yet! It contains caffeine to immediately reduce puffiness and the appearance of dark circles. It’s also water based and quick drying, making it perfect for anyone with lash extensions or for layering under a cream.

Step 4: Moisturizer

This is my favorite part of any skin care routine. Your moisturizer is what is going to be what really pulls everything together. It’s where your skin is going to be getting all its hydration and moisture throughout the day. I recently switched to The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA and I’m obsessed! It’s fragrance free, so hydrating and only $7 for a huge 30 mL bottle!

Step 5: Protect, Seal And Finish

Finally, you are going to finish your routine with a protectant, sealant, or finishing product. This is when you are going to apply your skin’s first line of defense against the elements. For example, you’ll want to put on an SPH to protect your skin from the sun. You can also press an oil into your skin to seal in all of your products. My favorite is to use Caudalie’s Grape Water Moisturizing Mist. It’s made from 100% organic grapes and is only about $20 for 200 mL! This product is so great for an extra boost of hydration or as a primer for your makeup routine.
